Saved play
What this game stores.
Math Monsters is a small, non-commercial game for family and friends. Saved players use a made-up Solver name rather than a child's name or email address.
Saved for a player
- The generated Solver name.
- A one-way hash of the six-digit PIN. The PIN itself cannot be viewed.
- Game scores, arithmetic facts practiced, correct-answer counts, and best response times.
- Skill check results: for each kind of math, how many questions were asked and answered correctly, the middle answer time, how far up the easy-to-hard ladder the right answers reached, and the suggested places to start.
- Sign-in sessions, and the security records needed to slow down repeated wrong guesses.
How long it stays
- Individual game runs: 90 days.
- Expired sign-in sessions: removed by the regular cleanup.
- Failed access records: 30 days.
- Fact progress: until the player is deleted.
- Skill check results: until the player is deleted.
- Inactive players: removed after 12 months.
Deletion and backups
A signed-in Solver can be deleted, with all its saved data, by entering its PIN. A grown-up can also delete it from the grown-up page. Nightly backups may keep deleted data for up to 14 days before they expire.
Basic server logs
The hosting server keeps ordinary request logs that can include an IP address. Invite and sign-in protection stores only one-way digests of IP addresses in the player database.
